The golden light of dawn, of the sun dipping

Its rounded edges in the misty foam of clouds

Became so warm, so personal, so romantic

It covered their entwined faces in need

Of love, of each other, of closure

Goodbye had never seemed such a sweet word to say

Than now, covered in light and need and closure

One would have never guessed what was that they felt

In hearing the simultaneous adieux they whispered

As in the golden light of dawn, inflicting need

On all that was lost, their despair and fury

And lust and renouncing became merely

Ambiguous facial expressions, eye contact

Simply impossible.
